With a view of Moyne Abbey from the front door, Suan Na Mara is surrounded by Irish history. Discover the local history of the round tower in Killala and then continue along the coast road to visit the neolithic settlements at the Céide Fields or travel the opposite direction to the ruins of Rosserk Abbey on the bank of the River Moy.

  • 10 to 15 minute drive away there is excellent freshwater fishing on the River Moy, Palmerstown River, Lough Conn and other lakes & rivers. (fishing rods are available for hire from McDonnell’s Stores, Killala)
  • Sea angling meanwhile is available at Killala Bay and arrangements can be made with local boat owners for fishing trips.
  • There is a splendid Blue Flag beach nearby at Ross.
